Joe is quitting the football team so he can work a crappy job at the bank, much to his little brother Gordy and the coach's chagrin. While this film explicitly addresses the pitfalls of young marriage, it implicitly addresses the bigger issue of horny high school kids eager to have sex and then, have to get married - "like Vivian and Rex had to".
